Manufacturing Manager


The Manager, Manufacturing, reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing, is responsible for managing all daily operations of Production Departments, including Trim, Packaging, finished flower, Kitchen and Extraction Labs; leading a patient-centric team and providing clear direction to achieve company initiatives. Additionally, the Manager, Manufacturing implements and maintains the policies and procedures of THE COMPANY and ensures compliance with all state and local laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides direction in the resolution of technical and production-related problems to assure completion of weekly schedules that meet or exceed company and Customer expectations.
  • Monitors performance of equipment, machines and tools and correct equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues
  • Oversees trim and packaging Supervisor(s) delegating daily tasks to production agents.
  • Oversees Kitchen Supervisor(s) delegating daily tasks to production agents.
  • Oversees Extraction Lab Supervisor(s) delegating daily tasks to production agents.
  • Transitions cannabis plant material through the post-harvest and production processes including dry, cure, trim, and packaging of all flower cannabis products while executing all chain of custody changes which occurs within Viridian Science and METRC.
  • Works with Cultivation Team to ensure prompt delivery of cured cannabis to the Inventory team for Extraction, Wholesale and kitchen. Oversees the proper transition of harvested plants from the Dry Room while following the strictest compliance to THE COMPANYs Policies and Procedures regarding Change of Custody of Inventory
  • Monitors status of Dry Room including but not limited to environmental conditions, drying process of marijuana flower, cleanliness and when it transitions to cure, meticulously recording changes in weight from water loss or other known acceptable variables
  • Monitors status of Cure Room including but not limited to environmental status, curing process of marijuana flower, cleanliness and when it transitions to be bulk packaged in nitrogen flushed bags, meticulously recording changes in weight from water loss or other known acceptable variables.
  • Performs weekly, or as otherwise needed, audits on weights of all cannabis post-harvest until it has been transitioned to be packaged for RMDs or packed in bulk nitrogen sealed bags to be sent to the vault. In doing so entering wet and dry weights of all product including flower and trim into Viridian Sciences/METRC systems and reporting abnormalities to the Director of Manufacturing
  • Execute quality control audits of marijuana flower.
  • Collaborates with Ops., Wholesale, Retail, Controller, Executive Chef, and Extraction Manager allocation of cannabis and trim to various departments for processing and order fulfillment
  • Assists in the review of requests to modify menus or create new ones in the MIPs Kitchen and Extraction Lab that meet quality standards coordinating those deemed viable for approval from the Director of Manufacturing and communicate approved changes and/or other feedback to appropriate departments
  • Collaborates with the Ops. Controller to estimate all production needs and labor costs, as well as, ordering all materials & supplies for trim, cure and packaging.
  • Generates multiple reports within ERP system and METRC, to support a S & OP driven forecast
  • Coordinates departmental equipment purchases and repairs with the Ops. Controller and schedule as directed
  • Always ensures compliance with all sanitation regulations and safety standards in the production of all products produced by THE COMPANY as set in THE COMPANY’s Policy and Procedure Manuals
  • Provides support for Executive Chef and Extraction Manager, Inventory Manager in daily operations
  • Coordinates sample collection and schedule for testing lab execution as needed of all products, communicating results back to all THE COMPANY department heads as applicable.
  • Implements and ensure execution of a rigid cleaning schedule dividing focus of duties daily, weekly, and monthly as needed
  • Updates and audit Communication Binder for current information and updates.
  • Executes and enforces compliance of all local and state regulations.
  • Maintains accountability of all team members, in relation to specific job description.
  • Reviews weekly schedules for their areas to ensure there is proper coverage based on the business needs
  • Upholds all THE COMPANY policies and procedures and providing feedback for any potential procedural changes which may occur within all departments to the Director of Manufacturing.
  • Provides Director of Operations with feedback on production inventory on a weekly basis.
  • Executes and manages payroll budget for trim and packaging.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Security when needed or necessary. Management reserves the right to assign other job duties as necessary. Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and rotating shifts;
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Ability and willingness to work in the following conditions:
    • General office environment;
    • Extended computer usage;
  • Extended phone usage including teleconferences, and work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, fumes, dust, odors, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, and noise.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or related discipline preferred.
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience with progressive responsibilities and leadership experience.
  • Experience in management of production schedules, reading technical documents and blueprints preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Quality systems preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to lead team activities and act as a coach.
  • Must have strong computer skills, especially Microsoft office.
