About the Role:

  • The Director of Procurement & Inventory will be a critical member of the team that will help drive positive culture change for our procurement and inventory processes. This position will be responsible for managing our strategic sourcing projects, improvement of margins and inventory controls for the group. This position will also play a key role in managing relationships with external and internal key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, and execute on a long-term direct and Indirect procurement strategy to support the business’ rapid growth trajectory.
  • Source weekly and seasonal product requirements for forecasted and promotional volumes.
  • Direct your team (plant buyers and planning teams) with buying strategies that align to category spends.
  • Cultivate positive, strategic relationships with our vendors and external partners.
  • Facilitate all major costing negotiations and manage vendor fulfilment and financial performance analysis.
  • Evaluate new product and/or platform innovation and work with our Product development to source key products and components.
  • Collaborate with our supply chain replenishment and transport teams to resolve product availability challenges and fulfilment obstacles.
  • Ability to decrease cost of direct COGS.
  • Continuous optimization of procurement to execute growth.
  • Own the P&L (COGS): Ingredient material cost, Packaging cost, Production supplies, Freight for in & outbound for both wholesale and ecommerce.
  • Lead and direct team of inventory or warehouse employees.
  • Master ERP system (Sage) to ensure inventory accuracy is within target and visibility is created of current stock on hand by category.
  • Manage and prepare stock age reports in line with our stock management policies and drive action for the at-risk items.
  • Drive the daily and monthly stock counting policies and procedures together with the Inventory Manager.
  • Leadership abilities: inspiring leader who can develop the team and structure the organization for the future.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior management role
  • Analytical approach to decision making 
  • Strong financial knowledge and experience managing P&L 
  • Well-developed influencing and relationship-management skills with a winsome communication style
  • Empathetic leadership style with effective colleague development and professional mentoring skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple urgent projects at the same time 
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience working within the Cannabis industry is an asset
  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management or similar
